Cold evening in Matukai

The artistic practice of Lithuanian artist Augustas Serapinas often involves the restructuring of public spaces. The basis for the work of "Cold evening in Matukai" was the artist's desire to save the local sheds, which were abandoned due to the mass emigration that began in Lithuania after joining the European Union in 2005. Before the demolition of the buildings, Serapinas managed to capture on film the last reflections of the surrounding area in their windows. In collaboration with local artisans working in the stained glass technique, these scenes were recreated and immortalized on the dismantled glass structures.
