Artur Bakhtin
"Ceramics, for me, are both a challenge and a discovery. At first glance, the material seems pliable, promising boundless possibilities. Yet upon closer inspection, it proves demanding, requiring devotion to the process. Each piece is a meticulous exploration of the limits of clay, glaze, and firing techniques. Experimenting with glazes serves as a means of expanding my artistic palette, allowing me to explore texture, colour, running effects, and chromatic responses. Nevertheless, with each passing year, I find myself increasingly drawn to simplicity, noticing beauty in the material itself. Minimalism emerged for me as a natural development, a response to the overwhelming influx of information in contemporary society. In a world oversaturated with stimuli and visual imagery, I seek tranquility in minimalism—a space where I can rest my eyes and mind. My objects are the result of my struggle for control over the material. In every project, I face the eternal question: do I control the clay, or does it control me?"
